Eskimo Ice Cream
Locally known as Akutaq, this is a popular ice cream with the natives of Alaska. It’s also known as Alaskan ice cream and Indian ice cream. Akutaq literally means something that’s mixed and this ice cream is a mix of fresh berries, water or freshly fallen snow, seal oil, and animal fat! Ground fish may also be added in the mix. It has been around for thousands of years and was used as a survival and traveling food by the natives.
