Madeira Airport, Portugal
In order to land at this airport, pilots have to position the aircraft directly at a looming mountain peak. Then, they have to swerve right so they will avoid it and align themselves on the runway. After successfully doing it, they have to control the plane and bring it to a complete stop considering that the runway is very short. When you are a flight heading to this airport, you will be under stress all throughout. The runway though was just 5,250 feet when it opened in 1964. Due to a crash in 1977, it was extended. It was further extended in 2000, but it is still a relatively short runway.
