Tony Conigliaro of the Boston Red Sox
This tough player signed in with the Boston Red Sox way back in 1962, and had a wonderful and fruitful career playing with his team. However, the unfortunate incident that occurred the night of August 1967 changed his life forever. As the heat between the California Angels and Boston Red Sox escalated, Jack Hamilton released a fastball, hitting Tony in his face. Tony instantly suffered a dislocated jaw, fractured cheekbone and damaged retina.
